Sunflower Dreams

Updated: Aug 12, 2019

Are you like me? Suddenly found yourself obsessed with all things bold, yellow and sunshiney? 🌻

If the answer is yes, you'll find your own paradise, the way I did when visiting Wyong Creek's Yarramalong Turf Supplies.

"The sunflower is a favourite emblem of constancy."

Just under two hours' north of Sydney, is the home of a Central Coast farm that on occasion host communal sunflower harvests AKA one of the greatest morning’s of my wildest sunflower dreams!

Imagine yourself, surrounded by sun-dialing blooms, as big as your head and taller than your house. It was ‘is this even real’ worthy, for me.

The best part was, I was allowed to bring my furbaby, along for all the fun, pick as many flowers (roots-and-all), as my arms could carry (which turns out to be only 23!) for $1 a pop.

And most importantly: take all the Pinterest-worthy snaps as my heart contented without time constraints.

"Every friend is to the other a sun, and a sunflower also. He attracts and follows."

From 8am I was invited for a close-up look at the grounds, and are free to roam the fields and pick bundles of your own fresh flowers. Thousands (and I literally mean thousands) of fellow sunflower-fans flocked to the site. (arrive early for parking and photo opps).

After my sunshine dreams were met, I was greeted with my very own coffee stop Turf Hut Espresso, that fuelled the morning's adventures. Jumping castle, music and mischief was also provided for entertainment for the little one’s.

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It's what sunflowers do."

I can’t wait until Yarramalong Turf supplies present another Central Coast Sunflower harvest" 🌻🌻🌻

Check here for future harvest dates.

“A rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose.

If roses tried to be sunflowers, they would lose their beauty; and if sunflowers tried to be roses, they would lose their strength.

All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that's like women too.”

Until next time,

Keep Dreaming and Believing,

Xx Lani
